Dorchester Mill Pond – October 29, 2026

We have had some rainy days. Daytime temperatures are expected to drop below 10 C by the end of this week. November weather is about to arrive.

The canopy is losing colour as the leaves fall.

Dorchester Mill Pond Ecotrail

October 29 was one of the last warm, sunny days before rain arrived. We wanted to walk the 3.3 km trail around the pond before the colour faded.

The pond is surrounded by forest and understory trees native to the Carolinian region.

The trail is narrow in places along the steep sides of the pond.

The trail widens through areas with coniferous trees.

A dam at one end regulates the water level of the pond.

A boardwalk traverses the marsh at the opposite end of the pond.

Near the wetland, we came across several newly emerged Meadowhawk dragonflies sunning themselves on the warm wood of the handrails.

Black-capped Chickadees foraged in the trees along the trail.

Dolly Parton Tribute Concert

Watch full performances from “CMA (Country Music Association) Presents I Will Always Love You: A Celebration of Dolly Parton”. I could not find better cover versions on YouTube.
