Erieau Marsh Trail May 21

You may know that Canada is experiencing an exceptional forest fire season with fires raging in almost every province and territory. Earlier in the month, our skies in London were hazy from wildfires in the western provinces. More recently, we have been affected more seriously by heavier smoke from fires in Quebec and northern Ontario. There were air quality warnings for several days when we have were advised to stay indoors with windows closed and to wear N95 masks if going outdoors.

Here is the sun obscured by smoke.

On May 21, we returned to Erieau Marsh Trail in the morning.

There was still lots to see and hear.

Our flowers from Wandering Bee have recently featured wildflowers.

Music Videos

This journey is all about “Twist and Shout”. We all know how to move and when to shout every time it is played at a wedding party. The studio version was done in only one take. At the end of a day of recording other songs, John was not able to record a second take. You can hear how raw his voice was.

For The Ed Sullivan Show, John’s voice was in much better shape and the audience screamed so loudly, they probably could not hear him very well anyway.

The Who sometimes performed a short version.

When the MonaLisa Twins went to The Cave to perform Beatle’s songs, they had a singer join them and they kept to the same short length. Years earlier MonaLisa Twins sang a much weaker version live (not included), but their hearts were in it even then.

Of course, Paul McCartney sang Beatle’s songs in concert, sometimes as a guest with other top musicians. By then, live versions (especially encores) were much longer.

If you are still with me, watch Bruce’s concert finale with La Bamba thrown in. Does anyone do finales with as much energy and passion?
