Rondeau May 19

Our cottage in Shrewsbury was across the street from a wetland on the shore of Lake Erie. There were Red-winged Blackbirds nesting among the reeds. We saw one act as a sentry when a cat came down the street. Even wilder was a Bald Eagle that was harassed by one sentry until it dropped the fish it has just caught.

Inside the park, birds were preparing their nests. In some cases, they were already feeding their young.

By listening for and then spotting nearby birds, I took some nice photos.

Once again, we visited the feeders at the back of the visitors’ centre.

At the end of the day, we returned to the visitors’ centre parking lot to see a several birds in a cherry tree.

A flock of Cedar Waxwings spent time in the tree.

After seeing Ruby-throated Hummingbirds flying near the tree, I started taking photos blindly. I had a lucky shot of a female. Then a Yellow Warbler appeared.

Soon after, an Orchard Oriole and a female American Redstart appeared. It was so hard to leave the area for dinner.

Follow me on this odd journey if you wish. I have always checked out any new videos of Jennifer Warnes. Here she is luminous singing a song from her Famous Blue Raincoat album of Leonard Cohen songs.

At the same concert she did a duet with Joe Cocker, supporting him beautifully.

Which took me down a rabbit hole to the movie made of Joe Cocker on tour: Mad Dogs and Englishmen. At first I thought Jennifer Warnes was in the choir along with Rita Coolidge. Follow me if you dare. This is the finale and lasts 14 minutes.
